Because the good ones we can accept & process.
The bad ones don't make sense , doesn't compute. There by
causing our sub-consciousness to hold on to until the matter
can be filed or resolved.
To do this it needs a conscious mind.
That's why our mind ,memory is fresh with details when we wake. Waiting to be processed.

I don't think that is entirely true

We remember dreams when we wake during or close after them, so if a bad dream causes us to wake we will likely remember it

We could remember a good dream in the same way but as good dreams do not disturb our sleep as often as bad dreams, we are likely to continue sleeping and forget them

Freud, the great psycho analyst says that humans tend to remember the good and lively things cos it makes them happy and it is opposite with the dreams..when u share a bad dream, u get attention, sympathy from others..u feel good! and here superstitions play their role, u feel as if u r getting some intuition, u r getting some signs that are warning u for the future..thats it!

It is not correct that one remembers only bad dreams. If there was a good dream try to remember it at least a part of it. It is that simple. It is that particular individual's wish to remember or not to that good ones. Good, bad and ugly always come and go.

I think it's simply that we remember what we choose to. There was actually a part of my psychology class where dreams were discussed. My professor mentioned that it was possible to train yourself to remember your dreams. If I have more time and remember, I'll look in my lecture notes!

I don't think we forget all the good dreams. The bad dreams usually leave a bigger impression on our sub-conscience.
