Modern racism is more discrimination than hate. Although most people would not look at the color of their friends skin they would use race to make certain uneducated assumptions about random people they meet from day to day.

An example could be when looking to employ someone, alot of people would subconsciously make certain judgments about how hard a worker this person is just by his race, or even his background (e.g. east coast or west coat, northern states or southern states)

Another example is reverse racism, where someone would do something just so that he/she won't be called a racist. Like in TV shows where they would make the black character a doctor or a lawyer.

We are only into the 6th year of the 21st Century - you are either an infant or an ancient fossil with memory loss.
The definition of racism irrespective of time or geography is the same! The dislike of the unlike!

In America it would have to be the treatment of the blacks and the idea of slavery and klu klux klan. Martin Luther King's assasination etc continuing today with the apathy to the floods in new orleans to a certain extent.

Also the predominence of (wasps) white anglo saxon protestants as the ruling elite.Consider How many black politicians in america today? To see that legacy.

also hispanic minorities. They get blamed for loads- look at oj simpsons trial - he blamed them for possibly killing his wife!

bugger that! The answer you gave my salt question was pathetic. The water was nowhere near saturated with salt and your answer began with "Duh". If you are intent on providing people with knowledge then the least you could do is research the topic instead of trying to sound clever. which by the way i doubt you are.

Racism was the same then as it is now. An expression of ignorance and fear.
