When first got Verizon DSL, it was great. For the last month, it has been slower than my old dial-up. I've deleted my cookies, my temp internet files, and my history. It's still so slow, many times I just give up using the internet.

I want to thank all of you for the answers I have already received. I had already defraged my computer and cleaned up my files. After I read your answers, I also got rid of some spyware which was found on my computer. It did help, but it still seems slower. Thanks again.

As the saying goes
better to be pissed off than pissed on...
seriously though
I have Verizon DSL and I have to admit, it's the best service I have ever had. I use it for my old desk top computer, my son's 2 year old laptop and my brand new work laptop...both laptops are using the wireless router. I even use all three computers at the same time and don't have any lag in service.
Have you done a disk clean up on your computer and then a defrag?
No way should DSL be slower. I believe it's is specific to your computer since before I got DSL I asked a ton of family members and no one complained about it being slow.

As you get more users on the "line", and during peak times, you can experience a downgrade in the bandwidth as more people use the line.

If more users in your area went to DSL, this could explain the problem.

I have cable, and love it....only went that way because DSL was not available in my area for ages...and not a Verizon fan (previous employee).

I was having problems with my connection time, and ended up deleting things like Webshots, SpyBot and several of those non-essentials. Now, the connection is great, and things are moving along, again.

Also try doing a disk clean up and a defrag.

Go to Control panel, System Properties Icon, click on Advanced tab, performance options, virtual memory and select
Custom size radial buttom. Increase your Initial size MB of the Paging file size 3 times the amount of the recommended below where the Total paging size for all drives. Additionally you should do a complete Disk Clean(Scandisk) using the more options tab, plus a thorough chkdsk at the command prompt checking all of the boxes in the dialog box. You may want to defrag your drive and delete the tmp files on your c: drive not just the Internet temp files.

Contact Verizon. They may be doing upgrades on the line. This would slow you down. Also make sure your settings for your router are right. If you still have probelms call custormer support. They might know a trick or two. If you are still not satisfied try another company like AT&T Yahoo. I like them.

hmm, download a product from the internet called "ad-aware", you sound like you might have a computer full of spyware that internet sites put on your computer to monitor you internet usage, these spyware programs can slow down your internet and computer speed. It's totally free and works really well. This may help to speed up your internet and computer. Best of luck to you and yours. -James

incredibly solid question. Dropped seize. that is problematic while the bowlers been toiling via the innings striving for that wicket and the possibility ultimately comes and the seize isn't taken. i'm used to run-outs via now having Shah, Bopara and Bell in my team
