I was there last November.
I loved Marrakech, busy and fun, the medina is better than the new town. Make ysure you do Djemaa el Fnaa at night time. Eat in one of the restaurants rounfd the square & just watch the activity!!!
The people are very friendly I found, with a good sense of humour. There are a lot of beggars especially around Djemaa el Fnaa, but politely say no & they will leave you alone.
I'm quite a fussy eater, and I found the food ok. I ate loads of chicken tajines, my bf loved the lamb ones, and make sure you try the mint tea.
Do not assume you can go there to do drugs. That would be ridiculously stupid!!! It is taken very seriously by the authorities.
finally, I found the guidebooks I read very misleading about the people and culture, have fun & make up your own mind!

1. Incredible and if you are from Europe or America very different from there. There are so many things to see and do there that I am going back again!
2. Friendly and helpful there are always going to be a few who are out to take advantage but be smart don't think because you are on holiday you aren't going to have trouble just keep your wits about you like you would at home and you will be fine.
3. Again I had no probs there are all sorts of different foods just remember if you aren't used to spicy foods introduce them slowly into your diet be sensible about the water I would advise against ice cream unless you know it hasn't been made with untreated milk/cream. Again it is a case of being sensible the cous cous and lamb is always good and if a cafe has no locals in it chances are it isn't very good!
If you go enjoy and remember if you are asked by someone it isn't your first time there (if you act as though you have been there before most faux guides leave you be)!!!!

Marrakech is amazing, the best place I have been to in Morocco!
The people are friendly, helpfull and polite.
The food is fantastic, a great variety to choose from!!!
Marrakech is very typically Moroccan and there's plenty to see.
It can get very hot as its inland.
As for the people there are good and bad everywhere, but typically they are good. If you come across beggars etc.. as long as you are polite you will have no problem.
Be sensible and dont carry alot of money or wear expensive jewellery etc..., this I think is just common sense when visiting a big city, especially when you're in a foreign country, nothing personal again Marrakech!
As for the food, some is very rich in flavour but it is really nice. Saying that, they have a good variety so if you dont like one thing just try something else.
I would recommend eating in the famous square (Jamaa El-Fna), in the evening they set-up food stalls in the square. The atmosphere is amazing and its great for trying different foods (also very very cheap). Rather than ordering one thing in a restaurant, here you could order several things and order more of what you like........
I personally like "Tagine" and the kebabs are really good!
Whilst you're in Marrakech go to Ourika (ask at reception where/how to get there....), its not far and worth the short journey!!!

I am not sure where some of these people come up with their answers but, I have been to Morocco twice and am returning in Feb. '07. I absolute enjoy the country. the people are very hospitable. the food is great and plenty of it. Marrakesh has many sites to see. they even have a lovely water park. it is an exotic and entertaining country. I have lived with and have many friends who are Moroccan and they do not hate Americans (I am American). and so I married one and we have a beautiful daughter.
so,if you plan to visit. enjoy yourself and see for yourself how inviting such a country is. you will feel so at home.

Moroccan people are very friendly, they hate Americans and Spanish both for bloody good reasons...
they don't drink, if you like an auld puff on the piece pipe it's a great place to go.... harvest time is just finishing so there should be some top class smoke around, it's goes lovely with there mint tea which they drink by the truck load...
It's like anywhere else in the world respect there customs and be friendly and you'll have no problems...
There are a good few beggars around best just not make eye contact with them...or you'll end up broke with a magic carpet..

I dont know.
But I do know that morrocan food is horrible. I tried this meat dish once. It was like a morrocan burrito with this crap meat in it. But then on top of it there was powdered sugar!!
It was gross.
