The most famous is the Tasmanian tiger (or Tasmanian wolf) - the last known member of the species died in captivity in 1936.
Other recently extinct species include the carolina parakeet (last seen in the 1920s), the Caribbean monk seal (believed to have gone extinct in the 1960s), the dusky seaside sparrow (the most well-documented recent extinction - this bird died out in 1987, in the USA), the blue pike (extinct in Africa in 1970).
There are many other species, many many insects, plants, amphibians.

I have something to say: -I do not believe in the Young Earth Theory but the Old Earth Theory. -It is possible that the Koran had it right. It places no time distance between the Creation of the Earth and present time. I believe the Tanakh dates it at about 5000 something years. -Also the Koran places no specific amount of time during Creation such as, The first day..... and then The second day..... They say 7 periods of time and since there was no Sun or Moon until I think the fourth day there was no day and night. -Also the Koran says there was an explosion, which is related to the Big Bang Theory, and that the Universe is expanding which is also related. That explains Creation relating to time. I believe Young Earth Theorists believe that the Flood messed up archeological data and just you know messed it up basically. My personal opinion, about Dinosaurs, is that YHWH did not ask to take Dinosaurs on the Arc. Which would explain their extinction. Also, later civilizations might believe that was far fetched and took that out of Scripture. Animals still die out whether or not YHWH is G-d or not. My above theory is not completely developed and was just a thought. In conclusion, not completely sure on everything but then again who is. Moslems seem to be pretty accurate science wise and yeah. Peace Out and GOD Bless
