are they panicking because they are losing their grip on power?

Because they're the ones in charge right now. People in charge get paranoid; they don't want to lose power. Losing power is inevitable, though, and they fear that more than anything else in the world, so they hold on to it for as long as they can and by any means necessary.

Please, don't classify people like that.

While the rich part is neither here nor there, I am white, I do have some republican leanings and I'm a Christian.

On the other hand, the kind of people I think you're talking about are frightened of minorities (ethnic or sexual) because change and people different from them scare them. For a long time, wealthy, white Christians (the political affiliation is very recent; for a long time the Democrats were the powerful party) wielded much of the power in America and they're frightened of losing it. Less wealthy, white Christians attached themselves to those views because they felt that it put them in with the people in power.

Basically, all I'm asking is not to be stereotyped because of my faith, sometime political viewpoint or my race and that a little good faith be extended. On both sides. (I have my beef with the kinds of people I think you were talking about too, you know.)

I have a favorite saying "Everyone's a democrat until they start making 100K a year". It may not seem related to your question, but it is. I think that, unfortunately, there is still a great deal of discrimination that goes on in the world. Many of the people in power - esp. in the USA, where I live - are caucasian men who are in fear of minorities and gays. Probably part of it is a fear of losing their power. The second piece is that these things are outside of their experience - which makes them fearful. It used to be that their only competetion was other white men (or in other countries - men of the same indigenous culture - Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, etc.), but those days are changing and now they have to worry about folks that were originally unacceptable. Being able to hold these folks back is their only way of holding onto their power. So my short answer is - in my opinion you are right - they are afraid of losing their power.

Well I am a RWR and the only thing I fear is fear it self, well that and pennies, and I have a strange thing about worms. But I don't fear minorities or gays. Unless there is a gang of gay minorities and all of them have guns and all of them are carrying signs that say "I am looking to kill a Rich White Republican" and they take aim at me, and I have so many pennies in my pockets I can't run. In that case I would be afraid of them. But really the odds against that are more then one in ten, so I am not that scared.

Hate to tell you but it's not just the rich, white, christian republicans that are afraid of minorities and gays, it's all of us that are not the above, why our children our survival as a human race, how are you gays going to keep the world turning, do you think men will one day give birth to children what type of children would they be, or better yet men will become women, oh then it's the same as we have now, the rich don't care if your gay they only care if you have money and many gay people are rich

For the same reason why some poor, black, christian republicans are afraid. It's called homophobia. It should lessen a bit once America comes out of the 'Bushes'.

Why do people wag their fingers and moan about fear? I'm white. I'm Christian. I'm not rich, but do OK for myself. If you think I'm afraid of ANYONE, think again. And what grip on power exactly do you refer to? What power do I have?
Your blanket remarks are pure predjudice and as such prove you are an idiot. How can I be afraid of someone with his head up his ***? I don't fear you. I pity you. Just another activist spouting the same tired old 60s crap like it was new and fresh. Or original. How tired. Your vitriol is without evidence or substantiation of any kind. Who is the one with the fear? Someone with a certain pigment set up? Certain beliefs? Or is it the boob so obsessed with pushing his own agenda on others that he wags his finger like a happy dog's tail? Get bent. Really. I am so sick of you leftist chumps. Your intimidation tactics are so out of date that they will never work.

I've never met anyone who was afraid of me.
People are afraid of what they don't know, and people they've never met, which is sad for them.
