The Loneliness One dare not sound --
And would as soon surmise
As in its Grave go plumbing
To ascertain the size --

The Loneliness whose worst alarm
Is lest itself should see --
And perish from before itself
For just a scrutiny --

The Horror not to be surveyed --
But skirted in the Dark --
With Consciousness suspended --
And Being under Lock --

I fear me this -- is Loneliness --
The Maker of the soul
Its Caverns and its Corridors
Illuminate -- or seal --

I need to analyse this poem....

Hi Dear,
The answer is simple. '"Depression without an outlet."
Loneliness is an emptiness that would like to pervade the depths of measuring itself against all other feelings. It cannot show itself, or others will see the pain and darkness associated ... and so the person involved, fearing illumination of the malady, locks it deep inside. "And darkness prevails where light should be."
A very emotional and touching poem. "Very deep."

You will under no circumstances have a real expertise till the time comes wherein you'll sit down in peace and mull it over. You revel in it and all of the at the same time you're experiecing it you do not consider to appear at all of the little main points. It isn't till the tip of the day, or finish of the week, month, 12 months, or existence that you simply come to a factor wherein you sit down nonetheless and soak up with your entire senses what you've gotten skilled in existence.

Well - get on with it then...................weren't you paying attention in your Humanities class, or are you just plain lazy ?

There are plenty of web-sites that can help you out with the technicalities and terms, but only you can respond to a piece of poetry.......its very subjective.

Read it over.........look for alliteration, rhymes, caesurae, etc (where they occur and don't occur) and what message do they enforce? Are the capital letters important (or are they yours)? - what do they signify? Talk about the actual construction of the poem (ie. number of lines per verse, where rhymes occur, where puntuation occurs or not, etc)

Good luck.

Read it slowly, carefully, slowly, aloud, and do your own homework. You'll learn much more that way, and grow. Parrotting what you pirate will get you nowhere.
