If you have an owners manual, you should check it for storage procedures. But if not, then this is what I do to my bike.First thing I do is add a fuel stabilizer and let it run thru the fuel system. This is very important so as not to get your fuel system gummed up after long periods of storage and it also keeps the fuel in good shape for spring start up. I remove the battery, charge it and store it indoors for the winter, charging it again in a few months and again before installation. I put about 1 oz. of oil down each cylinder thru the plug hole in the heads. My owners manual tells me to overfill the crankcase until the oil is full to the fill hole (about 4 extra litres). The reason for this is so that the entire bottom end of the engine is immersed in oil to keep it from getting dry. In the spring, I drain all the oil and do an oil change. Finally I put my bike up on a motorcycle jack, cover it up (don't use plastic as it dosen't breathe) and it's ready for winter hibernation. I also store mine in my garage. I have heard of some who will park their bike in their house over the winter!!! I guess if you can get it inside and don't mind a bike in your living room??? Hope this helps !!!

If your winter is January, February and March. Clean an lubricate the terminals. Change the oil before storage. A fuel additive is available to put in the gas to keep it fresh. You can find it at any parts store. If possible, start the engine once a week and run a minute or two. This is what I do for my outboard on the boat. In case of longer storage, a pickling compound may be sprayed in the cylinders to keep them from rusting.
