Yes they do reduce the temperature quite well. The biggest problem with them is the noise. In the bedroom its like trying to sleep on the edge of runway 4 at Heathrow and in the lounge you have to deafen the neighbours with the TV to drown out the noise. Aside from that they are good xx

Besides the noise, the more difficult part is ducting out the condenser air. You need to duct it outside or if in an office building into the ceiling.
You also need to empty the condensate tank when it is full, or take the tank out and pipe it in.
Plus depending on the size, it may require a dedicated power source.
But they do work very well.

Yes they do what it says on the tin. As mentioned can be a bit noisy but it depends how much you want to spend on one. Some of the more expensive ones are alot quieter.
