masterpiece by the dead is my favorite too. i love the way weir sang that one. my favorite dylan song phil lesh sang was tom thumb blues. i like how he switched up the line ' my best friend my doctor' to "my best friend my drummer won't even tell what it was that i got." and when he changes " i started it out burgundy but soon switched to the harder stuff" to " i started out on heineken..........."
and my favorite jerry /bob cover is "knockin" i know that is a generic answer because everyone has covered knockin' but his versions he used to do with jerry garcia band were amazing. he sang with so much pain and fear in his voice.
my favorite non dead dylan cover is arlo guthrie playing "watchtower" on the eukele. i'm not sure if he's ever recorded it, but i've saw it live. awesome.

Definitely Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower" is my first choice. I also love Roberta Flack's "Just Like a Woman".

when hendrix covered dylans all along the watchtower is amazing, it is amazing. When dylan heard hendrix' cover he said it was as though the song was meant to be covered by hendrix, and how he intended it

cheers
