You can mount one on Yahoo, it is called "My Yahoo" and then chose
all the alerts you wish, which will be updated every day. Any subject.
Yahoo will open a long list of subjects and publications, from alerts
which are Google or Yahoo. To do this you need a Yahoo registration
which you will find in Yahoo search under "Yahoo+my page", and from
then on you will have to fill in two pages of your profile and other
details. When open you can mount your page as you wish, with a
choice of a very large number of subjects. Works well with all
browsers, but it is best with the recently released Firefox 2.0 which
has three rows of tabs for easy access. Suggest you start with
Mozilla Firefox 2.0, which was released last week, and is free.
It is better than IE7 and all the others and does not shut down on you. It is faster and better. There are versions for Microsoft, Linux
and Mac. Give it a try, it is much more flexible than all others.
Cheers, Iain

Right for a start you will need to think, shall I go the free way or the paid way?

I recommend the free way first of all if you're new to the web building game.

Same with a doman (website url) you can have a free one or a paid one but there is a big difference.

Look up http://www.excelyourbiz.com
to learn how to build a personal, business, or merchant
website on your own without the high cost of paying for a
webmaster. They show you everything you need to know to build your own web site.

They offer advice and guide you through the steps to build your very own web site. Basic computer skills are needed and you don't need to be a computer whiz to build
your own website.

learn the basics: html ;) however, for beginners, you might want to try using a WYSIWYG editor (frontpage, or even the editor of geocities.com) then try learning html from there... try http://www.htmlgoodies.com or some site that teaches this ;) then the next thing you have to do is plan out the layout of your site.. think how do you want it to look like? then start making your own graphics and stuff ;)

I agree with fuzz, www.freewebs.com is pretty good, but the servers are really slow. But I think it's A really great place for a free site. the give you pre-made layouts, let you add files..all that jazz.

html is the key to this. it is simple code that constructs web pages. search for 'basic html help', or something like that.
