Depends, what are you useing if for? Games? internet? just Word?
best off looking at what you do with your current and see what you want out of a laptop, i would go for a budget laptop to start off with, then see how you get on.

Have a look here for new laptops:

Nobody here is ever any help on this question I have asked before and i am still searching. Try looking on amazon as they may be some reviews or visiting a store for some help. My friend has just got a Toshiba Satelite model and i had a go and I quite like it good value too.

Look on the web site www.moneysavingexpert.com i think or maybe its co.uk there is a chat site and people there are really helpful also

Good Luck its a daunting experience!

The Dell Inspiron is a very good Laptop with high specification.
You can go to the Dell site which will give you lots of options.
Best of all is the 3 year Warranty!

I bought a Dell and love it. I have a Dell laptop at work, too, and love it.

My best friend and my sister love their HPs.

I've had problems in the past with HPs customer service. I've never had problems with Dell's customer service.

Depends on what your criteria is, if you want cheap buy Acer, if you want max performance theres loads to choose from, but they cost a lot!.

Try looking at http://www.ebuyer.co.uk they offer good deals or http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ they cover the whole range from budget to stratospheric prices.
