Usually they appear on the underside of your belly. Try to use a mirror to examine closely. I didn't get any until my last 2 weeks! I think it really depends on how big you get. It is usually genetic, but if your not as big as your family members got, it would be a good reason not to have them. My mom *never* got a single stretch mark, but I got a lot bigger than she did. I used cocoa butter at least twice a day for my whole pregnancy, and it didn't prevent them. I think if you're going to get them, then you're going to get them. Good luck!

There is definitely still a chance that you'll get them, especially if your mom and sister did. Mine didn't show up until the ninth month with both my pregnancies, I think it's because the baby puts on so much weight in the last 6 weeks or so of the pregnancy. With a little luck (and maybe a prayer or two!) you'll escape this permanent sign of pregnancy!

You could by all means go the entire pregnancy without getting them, but still get them after the baby is born... You get them because either the skin grows to fast for it's normal elasticity, or it shrinks faster than it's used to compare to like just losing weight.

it depends on the person i guess. but from what i know stretch marks are caused when you gain alot of weight in a short period of time. so if you pretty far along and dont plan or seem to be getting bigger really fast then i assume that you are in the clear.

I have heard that the cream they sell in the pharmacy called Mother's Friend helps a great deal. My girlfriend used it when she was pregnant, and much to her hubby's delight, she didn't have any stretch marks that are visible to the naked eye. I would purchase that, if you can. Congrats.

I only got them in my 3rd pregnancy, and at around 38 weeks, but they are not obvious, yet one or my sisters has huge ones, and 2 kids, my other sister has none, they say it is genetic, Good luck, sounds like you are a lucky one

It really doesn't matter when you read about people who can't get pregnant.
