Fate. Plain and simple. We have no choice in where we are born, or who we are born to, or even IF we are born, it is all decided for us and everything that happens after that is the result of what we are allowed to do and have as we grow. By the time we are in a position to make any decision about our life, the people around us have completely destroyed any chance we have of doing anything byeond what we have been told that we can, or should do. No matter HOW you look at it...we didn't have a choice in being born, we don't ahve much choice about living...and ultimately we have no choice but to die. NO matter what we want to do or try to do, if it is outside the decree of fate...it won't happen. That is fate. That is life.

We are the architects of our own fate. We have done some things in the past the reaction for it becomes the fate of today. what we do today will bring reactions which will be the fate of future. So it is in our hands to shape our destiny. If we continue to do good now only good can come out of it. So our own path irrespective of our fate should be to do good.

I think we're largely determined in our paths by biology, society, culture, education and upbringing. Within these limits we are probably free to pursue own own individual paths. Even if our futures are fated we still have to make choices etc, as we can't do nothing. Ultimately it probably doesn't make a lot of difference, one way or another, but it's still fun to speculate.

I believe that fate exists in every possible consequence in the universe. There are multiple realities where any path of fate is possible and when we choose something we shape reality whereas somewhere else you could choose the other reason.

Asked myself this one loads of times!!! My personal view is that I think our lives are already pre determined / chosen for us, and so the decisions we have to face and make in life - well, we were already going to make the "choice" that we ultimately choose, its just that conciously we dont know it. I believe in reincarnation; that we are here to grow spiritually, and if we need to come back down to Earth to face negativity, to be able to learn from it, then so be it. I believe in fate for sure, nothing is an accident, and everything happens for a reason. All will be revealed once we depart this "life", and go to the Other Side. Ever had weird coincendences happen occasionally in your life? Think back and see. I like to think of those as smiles / signposts from God confirming to us that we are on the right path. Our own free will is given to us, to enable us to accept God, or reject him. Either way it is our choice - that decision is left up to us. We have only ourself to judge our time spent on Earth when our time comes. It is fate for me! Inshallah! Thats what I think! What do you think?

free will is a joke.

Someone show me where it is, that I can, without ANY outside influence, effect one damn thing. Or tell me how, simply, you can choose the less-than-best given a present set of options and present psychological parameters. It doesn't happen. Ever.

That doesn't mean determinism is a given. The future may not be determined. It means you don't have a choice about it, whether rule-bound or random.

Free to determine our own paths.
Unless you want to be a high ranking officer in the British Military, then unless you are from the Home Counties and went to Eaton etc, you have no chance.

You have certain decisions to make that is dictated by fate throughout your life. You make your own decision but you are guided by fate.

Our life is what we make through the choices we make and these choices are determined by that which will bring us to return to the unity which is our natural state of being.

I believe we are all born with at least one skill or talent. If we choose to use it, then life can be awesome. If we decide to abandon our "sweet spot" because of bad choices, then life can be bloody awful. A talent can be something physical (mechanic, builder, gymnast, chef), mental (psychotherapist, entrepreneur, designer, life-coach) or artistic (musician, writer, actor). Everyone has one thing they love to do from childhood! Even if its a hobby. If your talent was what you were paid to do, imagine how wonderful your life would be? And, please, no juvenile stuff like crime. That's stupid!
