There is nothing selfish about this persons attitude, some people have always preferred the peaceful quiet way of life as apposed to feeling in some way bound to anothers existence, this should be understood and accepted, and quite frankly to call them selfish and not respecting their decision in such matters is a somewhat selfish attitude on the part of someone who is trying to impose what they want over the feelings of the person that say they care about.

i dont think it is selfish. i think it is a bit stubborn and absolute :) saying that decided to be single. i would just leave an open window, u may change your mind later, why not? u dont let yourself to see the other side of the coin, there may be something there u really need. it is your life, u ll live it the way u want, i would only suggest that u are more open minded, keep all your options open :)

No, it's not selfish.

I never wanted to get married or have children, although I ended up doing one of each. I love my daughter dearly and wouldn't want to NOT have her, but I was right....I was definitely more of a "single act" than most people.

It depends on who is telling them it's selfish. I can see parents telling their child that not giving them grandchildren is selfish. It is from their perspective....however, the reality is...it's not.

Does your head or your heart rule your life ?
If your heart does you may need someone else in your life.
If your head does you may be able to have a good life if people are clear that you are not interested. It's very difficult to convince people that you're not interested if they can see what they perceive as difficulties in your life. Stick with it and sooner or later they'll get the idea.

I don't see anything at all selfish about staying single if that's what you want. It's certainly better than marrying if you don't really want to be married. Love often makes people change their minds. If that hasn't happened, it's better to remain single.

he/she has to reconsider some things which he/she overlooked before sentencing him/her self in a life like this. he/she must think thoroughly about this desicion because it is very sad to grow old alone, with no family, no husband/wife or son or daughter. i think, it may not be selfish, but it would be unfair to him/her self to deprive of these wonderful gifts of life.
