Went to Autozone and picked up a new battery for $70. Removing old battery was a little time consuming -- 1 hour, but no too difficult if you are moderately inclined like I am at best. Thanks for the responses.

you can always find out the battery size/type of battery from the dealer then go out to sears kragon autozone pepboys or order one online or get an optima battery which is the best out in the market because they use a sealed battery no filling with water or the battery acid leaks

Don't buy @ the BMW Dealer to safe some $$ Go to Auto Zone , Kragen's auto parts, Pep Boys , the first two they will run a test on your battery.
and electrical if you ask @ not charge. They will tell you the correct equal battery or better for your BMW don't worried they work and do the job like the original in your car. For the future, you can get also a code reader @ no charge if you know where to connected in your car and know what is wrong .and reset the light if you now how to used.I hope this will help you.
