But they aren't.

The clocks are moved forward in SUMMER to make the working/school day start and end sooner so people can make more use of the longer day at the end of the day. Also saves power by having lights etc turn on later etc etc.

It's called 'Daylight Saving'.

First started in Tasmania Australia and now a worldwide thing.

Technically they're not - they're pushed forwards in the summer - winter time the UK is on GMT, summer its on daylight saving time. The name gives it away - it was introduced (during the first world war) so that the early morning hours of light weren't wasted, and could be used productively.

Its actually not pushed forward...its pulled an hour backward since night time comes early and people can go back home before it gets really cold outside...and to save energy of course.

During winter (infact last night/this morning) the clocks go back one hour. This is so that it is lighter in the morning. Yesterday it was still dark at 7am, but now, at 7am it is light.

Edit: I should say that clocks go back during the spring so that we get more daylight hours.
