WASHINGTON - Former Federal Reserve Chairman ALAN GREENSPAN said on Thursday both private investors and central bank were shifting away from the U.S. dollar and toward the euro.

"We're beginning to see some move from the dollar to the euro, both from the private sector ... but also from monetary authorities and central banks," Greenspan told a conference sponsored by the Commercial Finance Association.

Call me crazy but it means that we will probably eventually use the euro rather than the dollar.

If the Euro over takes the dollar we will suffer as we will loose exchange dollars. If it is replaced we will suffer more because we will have to pay exchange rates.
The thing is does Europe as a whole have the purchasing power of the U.S? I don't think they do, and I believe their ability will decline even more as they are taken over by Muslims.
The big thing at the moment is that the oil producers like Chavez and OPEC may switch to the Euro as an attack on us.The thing is we are the largest importers of everything. Most would not care to loose favor with their largest customers and risk them finding another market. We have our own resources and if the price gets high enough we will use our own instead of import.
There is a whole can of worms in switching the major economic currency especially if you do not know if it will remain stable. The Dollar has the Euro is still new and is enjoying an artificial high because of some of the nations good economies, but it still has to deal with the countries that have weak economies and that could devastate the Euro at anytime.
