They will try to repeal the taxcuts. This has been stated time and again by the Democrat leadership.

I don't see much movement on the war. Democrats have used the war as campaign issue, but their actions speak more truth than their words. This statement refers to the fact that they have consistently voted to continue to fund the war. What can be expected in an attempt to set timetables.

They will try to pass an increase on minimum wage, this is also political in nature and in the end will not pass. It amazes how many people do not grasp the fact that minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage. It a is base minimum for workers entering the system. Minimum wage increases are ineffective because they drive prices up across the board thereby negating the benefit of any increase. Too many people just believe that companies will absorb these increases and take less in profit. This is not what happens.

There will be divided factions on trying to impeach the president. Many Democrats are trying to push it through, but the leadership is trying to keep it quiet because the majority of Americans continue to say they are against this. If they bring impeachment it will fail due to the fact that they will not have a 2/3 majority in the Senate required to remove a sitting president. It would also drag out to the next election cycle and would cost them votes in 08.

These are 4 of their main issues. There are others, but in the end what will happen is politics as usual in Washington. The Democrats are not going to win the overwhelming majority they are predicting. While they may gain control of the House there is less chance they will control the Senate. In the end anything they try to pass has to be signed into law by the president. We will begin to see the president use his veto powers and again they will not have the votes to override. So while they might make the president a lame duck for real, little else of substance will change.

Raising the minimum wage is high on the list. Rhetoric aside it will be good for America to lift the bottom again. No raise in the last 10 years has put a strain on people in this category while the CEOs have been getting 5 digit raises. Time to redistribute the wealth a little.

I honestly don't care. They could do absolutely nothing but pass a reasonable budget and I'll be happy. Anything is better than passing a bunch of conservative laws that make me wish I didn't live in this country.
