Indian givers: should refer to our early national leaders who broke nearly every treaty that we made with the natural born Americans. It's a sad story and a bit of a conundrum that we came over here as Christians and tried to convert the indians to christianity and when we wanted their land we killed them or drove them off thier land and this continued across the land til we got to the west coast, over a period of many decades.
That being said: the native Americans used to lend to the settelers and the settelers thought they were gifts and were surprised when the Native Americans(political correctness) asked for them back.

Alot of people that answered your question refered to native indians as American indians, this is not the right title to give them. Mabe most people have not had the chance to talk to native indians about what they think of what american gov. did to them. Indian giver is a name given to them out of hate and the need to ease the mind of the americans who were killing and raiding the indians land and homes. Years ago our government was able to round up indians and make them walk the Trail of Tears of hell, but the gov. cannot stop border crossings and have lost control of this America and are content to hand this land over to illegals all in the name of MONEY. Please do not disrepect a native Indian by calling them american Indians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Everyone like to forget that the Indian was here first and our forefathers took everything they had for thousands of years. POW WOW's are a good way to educate yourself. Check it out the next time one is in your town.
