A close friend really screwed me over. I mean COMPLETELY. He is scheming, deceitful, crazy and immature. I was basically set up. It's a long story, but basically I helped him out, confided in him, was a great friend and he betrayed me. I don't want to do someting awful, like revenge. But I do want to do something. I need to get some guts. I was trying to tell his gf how awful he is to her (he is) and to me (we're all good friends) but I started feeling bad b/c I didn't want to convince her to break up with him. Help!

I don't think you should forgive him. Or, rather, forgive him if that makes you feel better inside, but do not under any circumstances remain friends with him.
Sometimes people are just bad friends, but sometimes your friends are just bad people. And that's when it's time to dump them.
You seem like a moral person, who has a strong conscience, so I don't think you want to lower yourself with vengeful tactics. Rather, make a pointed effort to have nothing whatsoever to do with this person, without being overtly offensive to his gf or other mutual friends you may have. Calmly and confidently showing people what you will and will not tolerate is ok.

I think you should give him a double dose of his own medicine! He is obviously a low life scum bag so why would you worry about messen him over? Teach him a lesson he won't soon forget!

walk away. He will get his in the end do not let his bad *** attitude rub off on you. If she wont see him for what he is be glad you did and just leave it at that.
