Well,Zippy, you didn't give us much to go on. You stated Mac,not powerbook, imac, emac so here goes.If the outlet is ok and the powercord is ok and the correct voltage setting is ok then you might suspect that the pram battery is dead or nearly exhausted.Radio Shack has pram batteries. You could also try a "cuda" button reset.
Since I don't know your specific model you will have to go to Apple's website to find specifics on your model. Luck!

Is it a laptop? If so, make sure it's plugged in and the power is switched on - it might be out of battery. If this doesn't work, you could try taking the battery out and putting it back - it might just be a glitch which needs 'resetting'. Sorry, I'm not very technical, I've just got a G4 laptop. If it's not a laptop, then I'm stumped.

Check the fuse on the plug.
Plug something u know works in the same socket to prove the socket works.
If there is power then I think maybe u have a problem with the psu in the Mac..possibly a blown fuse..
THese are'nt as easy to work on like a Pc so I'm afraid your gonna have to take it to a Mac specialist ..
