The winters in Colorado Springs are actually quite mild...with the snow melting quickly..Colorado having approx 300 "sunshine" days a year on average.
There is Pikes Peak Community College
Its a great city although traffic on the I-25 interstate corridor has been worsening with the increase in population..
People are people no matter where you live....always gonna have "bad people" in any community/city. I'd most say Colorado Springs is a very friendly town and very beautiful too.

Colorado Spring is usually pretty nice and also very pretty. Pikes Peak is nearby. Pikes Peak also causes some unusual weather patterns though so expect almost anything at any time of year. There are a lot of colleges in the Colorado Springs area including Pikes Peak Community College.

My FAVORITE city in the whole country. I try to visit there at least every few years. The people are great. There is so much to see and do in Colorado Springs. I love Manitou Springs. And the Garden of the Gods is beautiful. And the Royal Gorge is a lot of fun. And, of course, Pike's Peak. So many things to see and do. And there is Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park and the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park. I'm sure there are community colleges there. You are so lucky.

Well, it's at the base of a 14,000 foot mountain, so it is colder somewhat. The people there are friendly and personable, help you at a drop of a hat. They have several trade schools and a community college. There is also an Incline Railway up the side of Manitou mountain, and beautiful rock formations at Garden of the Gods. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the Bug Museum, of course, with the Giant Rhinoceros Beetle welcoming guests. There is also Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, and Santa's Village, with the Ferris wheel that rotates over a gorge. Lots to do and see.

You mention Hazards and wanting to get away from Earthquakes. Yes that link you showed does have an Earthquake "Hazard" area in Colorado. I've lived in Denver, CO Springs, and Boulder for over 20 years. I remember once may years ago we had an "Earthquake". They news did a huge article on how it shook one person's photo frame off the wall...and that was it. The biggest Hazards are weather related: Tornado, Hail, Flash Floods, Blizzards. Most of which can be prepared for and have rarely been a huge issue. I would say the snow is harder in the CO Springs area than it is in the north (Boulder, FT. Collins). I live in Boulder now and they always say we are in for the "100 Year Flood", but if you live a little outside of Boulder you can get away from the "flood path". Over all I haven't had any complaints living here.

I love Colorado Springs...I don't live there but I go there often. Here are a few websites so you can browse and get a feel of it for yourself. Right snow there is snow on the ground and it is more beautiful in the winter than it is in the summer or fall. Good luck on your move.

It's pretty there but there is too much military. I hate to say it but they can be a problem.
