Those with strong anti-Western views, what are they doing in Western society? They are causing social unrest?

i agree.. religious leaders should realise they are in a major position of power and have to think about influencing people - that muslim leader in Australia was being highly irresponsible - he could be held responsible for riots! - people could end up seriously hurt because of what he said. i dont care if he states it was 'out of context' - the fact it could be taken in such a context is more to worry about.. people with these kind of views should not be allowed to live in Western society - he should be asked to leave the country - australian citizen or not. He is a major risk to the free and happy lifestyle that Westerners enjoy. We worked hard to get where we are today (World Wars etc) and should not have to take this crap. Its about time we stood up to these people - they are threatening our heritage which our grandparents have worked hard for.. its time we stopped being so PC and just kick these people out. and im not talking about all muslims - just people who have anti-Western views. freedom of speech is taken away from you when you are influential and in a position of power that can upset the status quo.
Whats the point in living in a country then opposing what that country believes in? WHAT IS THE POINT - go live in a country where your views match theirs. he says we're evil - he is EVIL - trying to upset our lifestyles - i bet you anything he has a plasma screen TV at home and enjoys many Western priveledges.

ME!!! I strongly believe so!! If they don't like the western society/culture, they should go back to where they came from. And they should stop making stupid anti-western comments, especially if they live in a western country. Great question by the way...

I think that if they have anti Western society views then they should go live in a country that supports their views.

making someone stand down for holding opposing views is probably more harmful than good. i do assume that you're referring to shiekh al-hilali, in which case he shouldn't be made to stand down because this illustrates an intolerance for a spectrum of views.

he should be seriously reprimanded, as the media appears to be doing anyway, and should make a very public apology for the offense that he's caused, but i think making him step down is counterintuitive to having muslim representatives in western countries. pointing out this kind of discrepency between eastern & western views is in fact a very good thing, because it creates an argument, it makes a point and people THINK about the fundamental differences between the two cultures so that each might be respected a little more in future. his views are not strongly anti-western, they are intrinsically muslim.

his comments about the white house are incredibly stupid, i do agree, but there is a strong tendency to polarise muslims and western society, when for a remarkably long time they could (at least in australia) co-exist. his views are expressive of an underlying problem in this age, & supressing them is completely unproductive.

I believe it is more appropriate to indict a society of female exploitation if it tolerates pornography (The West), rather than if it enforces the veil and preach modesty and decency.

These are the mufti's words which has been "intentionally" miss-translated:

"If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?"

"The uncovered meat is the problem. If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred," Hilali said according to a translation by The Australian newspaper.

Well, I can't speak for other Western countries but Sheik Taj el-Din al Hilali of Australia is an utter disgrace and needs to be stood down.

If they spout these kinds of views, they should not be spouting them in Western countries. If they're so disgusted by us and our way of life, why would they want to be here? Maybe looking for a few disgruntled men to join the jihad?
