Is there a cure for that?

Always. Each one of my cats, I talk to in their voice. Same with the dog. And a different one for each of my parrots. They all know which voice is 'theirs." It reflects their character quite accurately. But then I do cartoon characters too. I do a wicked porky pig, Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny, Mr. Ed, Woody Woodpecker, etc. Any wonder why all the kids in the neighborhood love coming over to my house? Cure for it? Why would anyone want to??? Funny, but I don't with babies. I talk to them like "little people." Seems they appreciate that more than "goo goo, gaa gaa" junk.

No, I counter that. When I used to babysit my niece and nephews I would read them bedtime stories from Nietszche.

I really should have started them out on Hegel or Kant, or maybe the Marx Brothers. I just couldn't read them those horror stories that pass as kiddy lit, where the children get stuffed in the oven, and didn't have a copy of Idylls of the King.

I have seen the looks of disdain and loathing in the face of a small child when big people talk to them all cutesy.

lol I always think people are so odd when they do that to babies and especially animals. Usually give them an evil look or something.
But then I find automatically when I talk to a baby that voice comes out..and it just takes over..its like some kind of curse or something lmao.
All I know is I hate it!

No I've never done that to either one of my children. I believe it contributes to the slowing the development of speech in children. I have real evidence of it. I'm also a bit uncomfortable with it. My son started talking and saying words other than momma and daddy to answers simple questions and ask simple questions at about 16 mo. By the time he turned two he was asking complex questions and speaking clearer than any of the children at his daycare. My son has a very extensive vocabulary. I'm also seeing the same signs of early speech in my 1 yr old daughter. I have a God-son who is 3 yrs old and because all his family did was baby-talk him, he can barely communicate things like, "I want some food from the kitchen." He can't say even say bad words like shut up or sh*t. Although I hate to admit it my son and my daughter were at least saying those words at 1 yrs old. I'm just totally against baby talk to children. I do in fact speak to my mom's puppy and my chinchilla in baby talk, because they don't speak anyway. There is no cure for it, when you see cute people or animals, you just have to do it.

Yes, I do. I don't need a cure. That voice lets my cat know she is loved, and I talk like that to my teenager to annoy her because she never annoys me!

LOL, I guess I do, I talk to my cats with a goofy voice, but I don't want a cure for that because it is funny. :)

Nope. My mom will call him Char char instead of charlie, and talk to him but she doesn't use silly voices. I do though, it's kind of fun.
