My current job is fine; however, it sounds like the position with your company is a better fit for me and offers a unique opportunity for my professional growth.

. . ..

My old job sucks and I hate the people there, especially my boss who is a real asshole, especially when I come in late.

Mikey -- I noticed that you made fun of another poster because of what you called his bad "grammer." There are three things wrong with this:

1. It is spelled 'grammar" not "grammer."
2. His grammar was fine -- it was his punctuation that was a problem.
3. Given the structure of this question, you obviously are not in a position to judge someone else's grammar.

As for your question, it is always best to be honest in answering why you want to change jobs. However, you want to do it in a way that does not make it seem like you are a problem.

For example, if you say that you are leaving because you don't get along with your boss, they will not know if you are a problem or if the boss was a problem. Instead, you can put it in more positive terms -- like "I'm looking for a position where my views are taken more seriously."

There are lots of reasons why people leave jobs. Some have learned all they can from one position and do not see a career path. Others need more money. Others do so to get a better work environment. Still others do it to move to a place where they want to live. Whatever you say -- be sure that you are telling the truth, and put a positive spin on it. Never bad-mouth your old company or coworkers.

Good luck.

I actually did answer this question 9 years ago!
I said " yes I make pretty good money and I am good at what I do, but I am not enjoying life. There are better things to do for my life!
I make 1/3 of $ what I used to do but I LOVE life and cherish every moment. I now live to work instead of work to live!
