Most of internet nerds ask that quest , I personally recommend that you limit the daily internet hours as to vow you will stay online for just 2 hours a day , and do something useful the rest of the day , reading or studying whatever , I am serious , it really works...

It depends.. maybe you are on a quest for something... research... or you are looking to meet people because your are lonely. Make sure to jot down the sites you go to while your are surfing....and I'm sure you'll come up with the reason if your concious mind isn't deciding. Your subconcious is guiding you somewhere, so make sure to jot down where you go on the internet.
