Try asking exactly what he wants, put it out there in the open and quit trying to play the guessing game. If you can trust him to provide you with an honest answer then maybe you are on the way to working it out. But is that what you want???

He sound like one of my exes. The ex I was dealing with was keeping tabs because he is a control freak. Even though I had left him 3 times he still wanted that "contact" as a way of keeping some type of control over my life. This guy doesn't care, he just has some major issues. The next time he contacts you tell him that if he does it again you will get a restraining order against him. If he contacts you after that get the restraining order.

I can only say from my past experiences if he's recently broken up with someone he's probably coming back to you for the rebound. BUT he really doesn't want you back. Don't go back. Leave it alone and move on. He was taken out of your life for a reason.
Wish you the best of luck

Sounds like a Monkey. He doesn't want to let go of you in case he loses the other one. His decision, did it once, will likely do it again. He might be confused but that's no reason for you to suffer.

if he's not getting the hint and you REALLY don't want this guy around you, get a TRO (temporary restraining order). It's a bit drastic but it'll definitely send him the message.

I'd ask him what his motives are for contacting you and if they are not worthy tell him to stay away from you and not to call you. You could change your phone number.

Men are`big babies. They throw toys in tantrums and then they cry to have them back. I betcha that he misses you and could do anything to get you back, chances though are that if he walked away, he will walk away again...watch!

You told him not to contact you again.
He has repeatedly disrespected your wishes and contacted you anyway.
Two words for you: restraining order.
