If you doon't get a tan just being in the sun, no fancy techniques will help! Some peple naturally get a tan, some people don't, so don't worry about it. I can not stress enough the importance oof suncream, use the highest factor you can get. Contrary to popular belief, it does not stop you in any way from getting a tan. If you don't use it, you will most likely burn and turn red, not brown. Use one of those fancy lotions which build a gradual tan like Johnson's holiday skin, they really are worth their price. Also, NEVER sunbathe in mid-day, as one person suggested. For example, go to Spain. Pretty much everyone there has a tan, and they know not to even try to go out at mid-day. Happy tanning!

Whenever you are going out in the sun, put on a suncream, sunspray or sun lotion contianing pre-melanin which speeds up the tanning process so quick that you can almost see the result by the end of the day if you spend a couple of hours playing beach ball or tennis. If you spend only 15-20 minutes each time in the sun, make sure you get full sun exposure after you put on the pre-melanin containing products evenly on your skin. There are a lot of products that you can buy from drugstores containing pre-melanin. I found the most useful one which is from Clarins Paris, it's called the Sun Care Spray High Protection (15 SPF, oil free) - very easy to use.

I've heard that you should moisturize the skin weeks before you go so that your skin doesn't dehydrate. The best tan is slowly. Don't forget to put on a high factor and don't sit out in the mid-day sun. don't forget that if you have too much sun you run the risk of skin cancer... its not worth. Come home relaxed and with a healthy glow. When you are older you will be thankful... less wrinkles

1. Never use sun blocker- because that's what it does.
2. Start out gradual- 30 minutes building up to 1- 2 hours.
3. Rotate equal time on each side front and back.
4. Allow your skin healing time before another outing.

this is probably not the answer you want but you are better off not burning your skin and buying a fake tan, there are some really good, natural looking ones out nowadays. It is much safer! (sorry don't mean to lecture :) )
