The only disadvantage is replacing the tubes when they burn out. The advantage is the awesome warmth tube amps have.

Don't know if it's really an advantage, more a preference. The theory is this, tube amps are supposedly better sounding and have a "true" sound. I have used both over the years and yes, I would love to have some of the heads back that I used to use, but truthfully, the new boxes I have used sound about the same. My 2 piaster anyway.

Tubes can be difficult to find for really old models so that's a disadvantage.

Tubes give you a warmer natural sound with more punch.The disadvantage is you need to replace them(the tubes) depending on usage about evry 6 months.
