Weight training involves using light weights and many reps (usually double the number of reps)
Train abs, shoulders, arms, chest, back and legs.
Running should be no more than 2 miles jogging with wind sprints (tennis is a sprinting sport not a jogging sport).
Concentration exercises are important. Think about tennis. Study books and watch tennis on TV to observe court position.
Practice, practice, practice. There is no substitute.

Lateral Pullups, Chin ups and Chest press should be priority. No distance running it, you get stamina but you lose your court speed, try suicides and moving up to the net and backpedaling back to the baseline. Sit ups and Lunges are the only others that you really need to focus on. If you WANT I realize you dont want to buy stuff but what you can do is stick some lead on your racket and swing with it. They come for about $4 so considerably cheap, stick em where ever you feel is comfortable but realize it might change the weight distribution of the racquet. Ask your teacher where you should put em. Try to swing with it for a few weeks and when your done take them off. Your racquet will feel considerably lighter and now you can generate more racquet head speed without having to change your stroke. It doesnt affect your muscle memory or anthing and you build arm strength too.

I am sorry to tell you this but you are way to old to start tennis if you want to play pro or even college. Most tennis players start at any age between Four and Ten. Anyway, good luck with your training.

Just exercise alot and try playing wit ur dad or mom or whoever and try to get better. I play tennis 4 only 2 weeks and i am getting pretty good and all i did was went to the tennis courts @ school and played wit my dad so dont lift weights just exercise.
U must exercise all life through jumping jacks r the thing to do and joggins fun and good 4 u.

well for tennis you should do suicides. LOTS. and weights on the wrists. you have to be careful though when training, i recently hurt my wrist because i hadn't done enough weights to strengthen it. if you don't want to do a lot of arm weights are whatever just get a more powerful raquet. and you should really work on your serving shoulder...

Put some balls in the cover then hold and swing the racquet the way it should be while playing. Also, do some running before the game and play basketball besides tennis .

I agree with super hombre...everyone else is plain stupid or just clueless...you need plyometrics for tennis...its for the constant start and stops that your body will endure in tennis...weights is totally the wrong path to go...
if you do weight make sure its high rep with quick bursts....

Play tennis more often and yeah push ups and lifting weights help.

i do a lot of weights. shoulders, back, arms, legs and most important abs also i do alot of running sprints along with playing at least 8 hours a week
