The ongoing controversy with regard to ID cards: Isn't true to say we already have a form of ID card . namely our national insurance numbers. which, for those who can remember! used to be their Identity card number during world war 2. Add a photo to it, plus hologram, and you have a viable ID card, More cost effective than what the goverment propose don't you think?

Yes, the British government could easily have adapted some of the European ID cards for use here but the information they want to put on your ID is colossal and hence needs a new format. Plus of course the 'goody bag' of money for the design of the card will have to be shared out to the New Labour cronies so 4.2 billion is probably a conservative estimate. Just look how the estimated cost of the Olympic Games is rising, probably at least another two billion,so much for Red Ken saying it would cost London taxpayers about forty pence a week!.

That's not an entirely unfeasible proposition. They may well need to add some form of identity pin to it also in an attempt to stop high level identity theft. Perhaps this is a worthy idea that ought to be formerly presented to the government. Could an MP help with progressing this suggestion?

Now to reply to the question, as I certainly have stated previously, the government already be attentive to who we are, i became issued an identity card at beginning, and that became for the period of the war whilst it became significant, i became later issued with a NI form. It extremely makes one ask your self why the government. choose for yet another set of identity taking part in cards probable theory up via some prat who went to a school and doesn`t stay to tell the story the planet, appropriate me if I`m incorrect.

They will end up with a system that will be next to useless, and will end up having to scrap the system due to faulty software, the same as they have had to do with other large systems such as one for the child support and the N.H.S. This is going to end up costing the British taxpayer billions again and will not do anything to stop terrorists or illegals.
