It's less likely these days for an overweight player to succeed at the NBA level. There's only a few chunky guys out there now (Michael Sweetney comes to mind), but if you don't get any taller, being overweight will really be a problem, because you'll end up being a guard and overweight guards almost never make it to the NBA (Khalid El Amin was overweight when he played for Connecticut, but he didn't last in the NBA very long). The best thing you can do is lose the fat, do a lot of cardio and weightlifting in addition to your basketball. You're only 12...you can do it.

you're an idiot, im pretty sure you asked if you were a ballhog earlier, and now im sure youre just a cocky punk, but when i was 12 i was a lot taller than 5'2" and i wasnt a chunky PG like you are, and i played for an after school league where i could basically score whenever i wanted, but unlike you I spread the ball around. Once you start playing organized ball it becomes totally different. Play some AAU this summer and see what happens when you play teams like Full Package, Ferrari, or the Warriors

Hmmm.... the fact that you are overweight is not a problem. Since you are only 12, it means you well grow a lot, so don't think about a diet. No worries, if you are the aggresive type, being overwieght is actually an advantage. Also, try the BMI system to see if you are really overweight or not.

Actually there is a whole lot of other stuff that can keep ya from NBA besides your weight.
Whats your school grades like?
Whats your percentage from the floor and from the foul line?
Whats your percentage stealing and scoring?
....plus a whole bunch more.
What kind of person are you? Even with super high percentage, if you are a dishonest druggy, then NBA wont touch you.
In the meantime, train the brain, stay in school.

Don't put your eggs in one basket, I hope you make to the NBA, but you better have a fall back plan if you don't. You need to study for your school grades just as hard as you practice or even harder for basketball. Also remember "pride cometh before a fall" basketball will change alot next year, and even more in high school, and college is just outrageous, and the NBA is even way harder than that, be humble, study like you life depends on it. life will be good to you

i think you think to much of yourself..... what state are you in.
the 8th graders here in NC, of the small town i live in. 3 of them can dunk and they are only 6 ft. you are 5 ft 2in, you must have been playing handicapped kids. they might make varsity this year as a freshman, but i doubt it.
you are no where close to being a starter in a school... you WILL NOT MAKE THE NBA>
