Do u humor people just to avoid conflict?

it feels like lying but avoiding conflict or delaying it seems to be reward enough.

When I was younger I used to go to great lenghts to avoid conflict. I now realize it is important to be kind but brave enough to be honest when it is appropriate and would be helpful. True satisfying relationship cannot develop when a person acts out of a false self by always avoiding conflict. Of course, an accurate assessment must be made. Humoring someone who obviously has no insight may then be appropriate.

It's almost always better to avoid conflict and if it means humoring people, yes I do it.

At first I use humor to try to avoid a conflict, but then I use irony so they can't think about it later and realize how dumb they behaved.

I do that quite often. I work in customer service and its the only way to appease the customer. I get my reward when I know what I am talking about and they dont... I know they will figure it out down the road, and at least they wont feel too dumb when they learn.

i do it. i don't think it's that rewarding. more things build up inside of you than you realize, cause you physical problems down the road. you might not even be aware of how many things you should have said to someone that you're holding inside now and could be giving you sore muscles, headaches, whatever.

course, i have no solution for this as yet.

Why not. Conflict can often be unproductive, and what's the point of that. By humoring I deflect, not admit or conceed, to the incident or accusation.

depends on what the situation is. i would tackle an issue i felt strongly about regardless if it caused conflict. but sometimes, silence is the best.
