I had the same problem in my first labor: bloodshot eyes and splotchy skin. Before my second labor, I asked a birthing coach about this. She said this happens if you hold your breath while pushing. So try not to hold your breath next time. Worked for me!
It is a natural inclination to hold your breath while doing any kind of exercise that involves intense muscle contraction (think of holding your breath while lifting weights), so you need your partner/doctor/midwife to remind you to BREATHE OUT with each push.

Practice your Kegels religiously. Those will help strengthen your muscles.
To help with the pushing, when you are having a bowel movement (sorry to be graphic, but it's important) concentrate on the muscles that you are using. That is the EXACT muscles you need to use when you are pushing during labor.
Many women are afraid they are going to mess up the table, but if you don't use those muscles, you are using the wrong ones and will get the broken blood vessels because you are not even close to using the right muscles.
Best of luck.

Because this is your second child, labor should be a lot faster. I guess I would recommend walking until you put yourself into a pretty good contraction pattern. The physical activity helps the labor move a long a little quicker. I still had an epidural, and it was cake. No super crazy pushing. The Contractions pretty much did most of the work, which I didn't feel too much because of the epidural. Good luck!!

Point a million: Every social gathering has to uncover volunteers to face as applicants. Not sufficient volunteers - no longer sufficient applicants. Point two: Standing in a hopeless ward, despite the fact that fascinating for all of the country wide events, isn't continually sensible, and, of path, fees cash. Standing method striking up a deposit, and publishing election fabric. Point three: In 2007 I do not consider any social gathering is fielding applicants in additional than 60% of all of the council seats up for election. There is a ward close me that's undoubtedly solidly Tory. A few years in the past the Tories could not uncover a candidate. Nor might every other social gathering besides Labour. So he received the seat by means of default. The man was once a conventional historic staunch socialist and it was once relatively ironic that he spend four years representing a prime Tory rural ward. The Tories made definite they post a candidate four years later. P.S. If you are going to cite Shakespeare you will have to no less than appreciate it. "Wherefore" truthfully method "why are you", no longer "in which are you". Juliet was once asking why Romeo needed to be from a loved ones with whom hers had a feud.

yes. Have someone tap on your perineum when you are in early labor or any other time during labor that you feel like you need focus. That is the area of your body that some people call the Taint. It's between your anus and your vagina, and it's where you need to try to focus the pushing. I did the same thing, and when my doc noticed, he did that. Told me to push, RIGHT HERE, tapped me there, and that was it.
his wife did that, when she was in labor, her nurse did that to her, to help her focus, and it helped. So he passed it on. I was very glad. My eyes and face looked horrible. But he said his wife's was much worse with their first.

Yes, push corrctly as if you are taking a bowel movement. You poped vesicles & pushed for sooo long because you were not pushing in the right area, you can't use your face muscles & the correct at the same time

The only thing that I can tell you is to not receive an epidural so you can push more effectively. But being that this is your second child, maybe now you know how to push and won't have to push for so long. Good luck!

What worked for me was keeping my eyes closed while pushing and scrinching up my face. Try and concentrate on pushing from your bottom.
