You will likely buy one, probably in a pot. Growing from seed is not recommended as everything is grafted nowadays. If you have frost, you have to bring the tree inside during winter, and will have to regularly re-pot.

They like full sun, but should be semi-protected from the wind. They are remarkably drought-tolerant, but if you want juicy lemons, you have to make sure they get plenty of water from the time of flowering until harvest.

You may prefer a dwarf variety, as they can become VERY large.

If you want to work, and are patient for the eventual effect, citrus in general and lemons especially, take well to being espaliered.

Plant a lemon seed in earth and it will grow and it should be in full sun.

Plant a lemon seed in some earth. Water. Wait. Keep in a place that doesn't freeze.

an open sunny position , protected from wind . they are pretty shallow rooted , but if you can provide a deep well drained soil bed , they will go well . not sure where you live but you'll need to be in aplace that has a fairly warm to hot summer and a mild winter for best results . good luck .
