Because some sadist designed these things to torture women. It's probably just a cramp in the muscle that starts spazing at night when your body relaxes. Heals actually flex the calf muscle and gives the legs a nicer look, but if you've been flexing all day, with any muscle group, you need to relax it at some point. Try to massage your calf muscles before you go to sleep.

Because you have not take the time to get used to the high heels.

If you are wearing high heels and wish to remain upright as you walk, then you are stretching the calf muscles. After you remove the shoes, the muscle returns to "normal", but sometimes this is not a gradual process, hence the pain as the muscle springs back into place.

You need to practice wearing high heels. In your case, take a lower heel to start with. Get your body used to wearing them and work up to a higher heel, bit by bit.

You can always tell which women on a night-out are wearing a higher heel than then are used to, partly because their gait gives them away, partly because they say "my shoes are killing me".

Shoes, whatever the height of heels, should be comfortable.

Because wearing heals all day strains your hamstrings and they need to be stretched. They can also wear on the nerve bundles in the balls of your feet.
