My Jeep is reving hard. It just happened today after I put oil in it. It is a stick-shift. Why did it get louder, could it be from the oil, or a muffler problem? I am quite ignorant with cars, sorry.

is it idling at a higher speed than normal? is that what you mean?
Perhaps you knocked off a vacuum line. I dont think it has anything to do with the oil change.

I think it was just a coinsident, as our jeep got older it became louder and louder. As far as the rpms being too high, have someone(guy friend) just adjust the throttle cable. Be careful the next will be the heating system. Hope I helped a bit.

If it's revving, it could be that the timing chain has slipped. I am assuming that you mean the sound of the engine has gotten loud...again, it could be a result of a timing chain that is causing 'misses'. Do you know anyone who has a timing light? Do you have a maintenance book that gives the specs for the engine? If so, check the timing and adjust it as necessary.

Accelerator wire is entangled with its cover so movement of the wire is not smooth, make it free. Rest is O.K.
