I suppose there is a "definition" somewhere to explain to hormonal response etc... but love is a different experience for everyone. To me the meaning of love is, when you find that special someone who want to create life with, someone you argue with and laugh with, fight and make fun...but always kiss and hug in the end. Someone who tries to make each day the best it can be for the both of you. That person you miss when there are not sleeping next to you. When the best moments and experiences in life are made better because that someone else was there with you.
Love is knowing that no matter what you'll be faithful and caring "till death do you part" so to say! That when you look at the other and can't help but smile! Love is so many things, its far beyond the word itself. I'm glad I found it, I hope everyone does in their lifetime no matter how long or how short it lasts.

Live,Love & Laugh,
Michelle

If I have eros love, it blooms pretty for a day, but having no root easily withers away; if I have phileo love, it grows a little deeper roots that relate with others, but is based on mutuality and response in like manner; if I have agapeo love, I give unconditionally not by the merit of the object loved, but in spite of their shortcomings, and the roots run deep into the River of God. God's love is the deep agapeo love for us. He created us for relationship / friendship with Him. All true love stems from Him, although we shouldn't try to be martyrs like Jesus for martyrdom sake. That breeds co-dependency. We all need to know we are loved before we can truly love. Who is better at teaching us that than Jesus. He came that we may have life and life abundant. He told us he doesn't call us servants but friends. (John 15) My favorite Bible book and disciple is John who is called the "beloved" disciple. I also appreciate Paul's discourse on Love in I Corinthians 13. If I speak with tongues of men and of angels but have no love I'm like a noisy gong or clashing cymbal. If I give of all my possessions, even giving up my body to the alter, but have no love, I am nothing. This love of which I speak is slow to lose patience. It seeks not itself. It is not puffed up. Love is kind. It rejoices with all good when truth prevails. Now abides faith, hope, and love. But, the greatest of these is love.

"God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes on Him would not perish but have eternal Life. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that all would come to Life through Him." (John 3:16-17)

Love taught the flowers how to grow, love taught the rivers how to flow, love taught the eagle how to fly high; love's in the early morning rain, love's gold is forged pure through pain; God is not afraid to love anyone who will call upon His name, so do just that, you won't be the same. Let God's Love reach within. Dare to show him all, bare your sin on Him. Rewards are great to be sure. Fellowship, friendship joy, earnest, sincere, and pure. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He's near; let the wick forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thought and let Him return to the Lord. He will have mercy upon Him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. Blessed be His name forever.

As William Wharton once said, and as I believe...

Love is passion, admiration, and respect. If you have two, you have enough. If you have all three, you don't have to die to go to heaven.
Love is what makes us reach out to others and form a connection with them. It's what keeps us all from being alienated.
In my opinion, at least.
