if you mean your router, you have to open a browser and type in 192.168.1.1 or it might be different for your router..

then you have to put in your password, and go to security settings. Your WPA key will be listed there.

Usually keys are made up by you. The laptop's card would have a hardware address, which is a little akin to a serial number.

However, the key is more like a password. You make that up, not the manufacturer. Also, unlike the hardware address - you should be able to change it whenever you want; when it gets too old, or you feel it has been compromised.
