Cork - you don't make sense. Care to add some more explanation?
Ruth - I could interperet that as predestination, which kind of shoots the whole idea in the foot.......

Ruth, that's a cop out. If you claim something is true, you should be able to back it up with something besides hearsay times ten.

Lucky - I make the same assertion to you as I did Ruth. Doesn't that argue for predestination? And if so doesn't it mean the entire idea of god being upset about abortion a sham?

Scorbore - I'm personally neutral on the subject remember? It's a womans choice, and as a man I have no say in the matter. Call it intellectual curiosity.

Scorbore - you misunderstand. As a man it is a meaningless question for me. It's like asking what color is friday.
My responsibility as a father would only come about after she chooses. I would honor her wishes either way, and provide for her and the baby as necessary. It's just the right thing to do.

Ruth - The Moabite babies were already born though. Doesn't exactly fit the question. I personally don't believe in predestination.
I'd be interested to hear your constitutional argument when you can. Always up for a new idea.

Thank you Ruth, it's a breath of fresh air to hear you say that. Nite, I'm tired.
Scorbore - Have a great night.

High 5 Ruth!
EDIT: Notme, since you interpreted that differently, does that mean you are right or is Ruth? If your answer is both could be right, then everything and anything is right if that is how a person decides to interpret it. So who is right?
EDIT2: I have to disagree with you on that. You concede to allowing abortion because you said you are a man and have no say. The father should always have the say unless they ran up and left her to take care of herself and the unborn baby.
I personally dislike abortion, especially as a means for birth control, but i don't think abortion should be illegal, it would discriminate against the poor
EDIT3: I will say this, you have a good point, and no complaints from me, if that is truly what you mean, and would do in such a situation.

If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely* but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life . . . (Exodus 21:22-23, NIV. The NIV has a footnote, indicated by the asterisk, which says "Or she has a miscarriage.")
This passage, in the chapter immediately following the Exodus presentation of the Ten Commandments, gives directions for what to do if two men are fighting and a pregnant woman is accidentally struck during the fight. There are two possible interpretations of one part of these verses. This part may mean either that the woman gives birth prematurely, or that she has a miscarriage, and, as far as I am able to determine, the interpretation is just not certain. The NIV interprets the Hebrew as meaning premature birth, but gives the miscarriage meaning as a text note. Other translations may do the opposite.
nuff said???
there are more verses.....

Ok, first of all I'm not going to recite any bible verses. You are obviously a non-believer/atheist looking for a conflict. As far as impress you by the way you have stated that nothing will change your already made up mind. All I will say is even if you don't believe in God, do you think that life as a value or any purpose? Have you ever seen the move "The Island"? When you start to say that it is ok
to destroy life for one reason or another, how do you draw the line?
When is it enough? Do we mass produce embryos for harvesting? Do we say that if it is ok to murder one way, why shouldn't it be ok to murder another way and so on and so forth?
As far as the bible, not everyone believes in the Bible. There are
many other books such as the Koran etc. Which one would you go by? How do you determine what is right or wrong? and if you are in the right?
By Faith alone. I believe in Jesus Christ son of God and Holy spirit. Through God's word and my faith I know what I believe to be right and wrong. What does your theory of evolution say?
That is your answer.

"Before I formed you in your mother's womb, I knew you."
I guess you would interpret that how?
You could interpret the theology of the matter, as predestination, but that in no way changes the issue of when life begins, for God.
I don't guess you'd care to argue that God predestined someone to be aborted, would you?
How about the fires of Molech? I would say that God had plenty to say about that. The main thing that got the Moabites judged was they had a ritual where they sacrificed their babies to the god of hedonism-- Molech. The Israelites were told not to pass their children through the fire of Molech.
Hedonism. Mightn't that equate convenience? Choice?

What does the bible have to do with it?
If people WANT to ban abortion, why can't they? What difference does it make which "source" they cite for why they feel the way they do? Let people make the laws that they want to make.
