are there any austrailan films which confirm and/or challenge certain ideas about Australian national identity?

And... how would you define australian national identity?

For me (an Australian) I would define the national identity as multicultual.

We started with the true Australians, the Aborigines, then the English sent their convicts. Around the 1950s many Italians, Greeks, Chinese and a sprinkling of other Europeans settled here. In more recent years we have seen a great number of Asian migrants emigrating to Australia.

This mix has introduced introducted a multicultural society through things like food, cultural and religion.

I think our life style is a cross between the English and American way of life but we are quite layed back in our approach to life.

crikey mate id have to say we are a mix of croc dundee steve erwin the local yoboo mad max an picnic at hanging rock with a bit of rabbit proof fence add eat pizza

how can Australians have national identity when their have kill it themselves.
people who are called Australians aren't Australians they are big ELI ENS.

australia is a satellite of england or great britain, no matter what they do , they will always be a satellite.... never be the original, ie ENGLAND ENGLISH
