Most women breast feed exclusively for the first few months, but supplementing with formula at night should be ok. Just ask your baby's pediatrician.

Just remember, when you start giving artifical breastmilk, (that's all formula is, a substandard substitute for your milk) you are beginning the process of weaning, because your production will go down.

that is a good resource for information on breastfeeding and related subjects

Breastfed babies will nurse more often before a growth spurt to increase production for when they need it. It's natures way of making sure they get enough when they need it.
Formula is not as good as your milk. It's also not as easy. All you have to do to let your baby nurse is sit up and latch them on, and when they get a bit older, it's roll over and let them nurse. At around 3-4 months, I used to lay on my back, put the baby on my chest, and let them nurse. Neither of us completely woke up. Formula stains, stinks and causes more spit up. It also makes solid waste in the diapers and on the clothes (there are always blowouts once in a while) STINK.,...
Besides you have to get out of bed and go fix the stuff, then wash the bottle afterwards. WHy do all that when after the first six weeks, breastfeeding is so much easier than all that mess?
The first 6 weeks are tough. But with some support, Lactation consultant or online information or support groups, after that first six weeks, it's easier to breastfeed than to do formula. Not to mention the cost of the stuff in a can. It's outrageously expenisve.

Yep, you can. I work in a daycare and some of my kids' parents breastfeed at home and formula feed during the day. Alot of the time from what I've seen they dont like taking formula after being on breastmilk for a while..

Sometimes the baby will reject it but other time it wont be an issue, but the baby could decide to reject your milk instead of the formula. But even if you change your mind about breastfeeding you should consider at least doing it right after birth because that is a very important time for the 2 of you to bond.

yes you can. just introduce it to your baby slowly. Try mixing half breast and half formula, then reduce the amount of breast milk until your baby is drinking a full bottle of formula. That way it is a smooth transition.

Yes, most likely you could get her to do both. But night time feedings are so easy you can actually sleep while you are doing it. You don't have to wait with the baby crying for the bottle to warm either.

Yes you can give your baby both. My son is a week and I'm breastfeeding and I'm sort of considering giving him formula at night also.
