At the 1999 Starrcade pay-per-view event, Hart defended his WCW Championship against Goldberg. During the match, Hart was struck with a mule kick to the head, resulting in a severe concussion. Hart later speculated that he may have suffered up to three additional concussions within matches over the course of that day along with the days immediately following Starrcade 1999, having been unaware of the severity of his injuries. As a part of this, Hart placed Goldberg on the post in a figure 4 leg lock which ended with Hart hitting himself on the concrete with his head . The sum total of those injuries left Hart with post-concussion syndrome, and ultimately forced his retirement from professional wrestling.

It was a mule kick to the head by Goldberg at Starcade at the WCW Championship match in which Bret retained his title. He suffered a severe concussion as a result of the kick and was forced to retire.

Goldberg ended Bret's career. He gave bret a side kick to the head that gave bret a concussion, and eventualy led to his ultimate retirement. it was in wcw, either on Monday night Nitro or Thursday night Thunder.

it really wasn't a wresling move. What pretty much ended it was his brother Owen getting killed on a freak ring entrance accident. He had a really bad taste in his mouth after he was "cheated" out of the title at the orders of Vinnie Mac against Shawn Michaels right before he jumped ship to WCW he wasn't there long and left when Owen died.

Bret was riding his bike one day, and fell off it. He hit the side of his head on a curb. He had a stroke because of it. Shortly after, he fought Bill Goldberg. Goldburg ended his career with a super kick to the side of his head, thus giving Bret his "stroke", when in reality it was the fall off the bike that done him in!

Punching out McMahnn after losing the title to Michaels in Canada didn't help. After watching his brother Owen fall from the roof was the clincher. Professional wrestling had sucked all it could out of this good Canadian boy.
