Recently I've noticed that a lot of women think that the fact that they CAN be sexy and hypersexualized must mean that feminism is over and that this is actually what empowers them.

I think it is empowering to some degree. So many people believe that if a man sleeps around, he's a stud, but if a woman sleeps around, she's a whore. For the longest time, women weren't allowed to be overtly sexual, and sex was all about pleasing the man. I don't think it's a good idea personally or professionally to turn yourself into a prostitute, but I can understand why some women would find it freeing.

When you look at the picture of the modern feminist woman - it isn't the picture of how women have been since the dawn of humanity.

Something is out of whack with the picture.

Don't get me wrong. Contrary to popular belief, men have not always dominated women. Ancient matriarchal societies such as the Celts, were fair to both women and men, who were equal in all aspects, even in the battlefield.

The sexual revolutions did not create equality for women and men. It promised power but truly, real power is about withholding power, and not about using it without control.

The sexual revolutions promised satisfaction and it encouraged the pursuit independence at all costs - but instead of being set free, women and men are enslaved in an endless cycle of craving, lust, envy and disillusionment.

I personally believe that feminism, as we know it today, is a grand conspiracy. Why would women want to be debased and power-hungry like many men are? If I had not known what modern feminism is, I would have sworn it was invented by powerful male secret societies - and not women!

Seek that which is virtuous. Power without control is not the answer.

i am one of those women that find my sexuality empowering. Not the fact that i can be hypersexual if I so choose, but just the fact that I have my sexuality in my hands, and am completely comfortable with it. Do I think that means that the feminism is over? Absolutely not. Feminism is alive and struggling in my opinion, many girls are growing up without the seeds of feminism planted in their minds, this is bad, very bad. My girls are 8 and 3, and I have one on the way and everyday i try to lead by example to show them and help them learn that women are just as good, and you should ALWAYS stand up for what you believe in, even if everyone else in the room is sitting down. Not only that but I teach them how to have compassion and selflessness, which I think is a big part of humanity that gets left out of feminist teachings, you can be a feminist but you are also a human being, and should treat others with respect.

I do not teach them that men are bad simply because they have penis', but i do teach them that they can do whatever they want, it is their choice. That is one of the greatest things about feminism in my opinion is that it gives us all choices, that we get to make on our own. I choose to be very sexual, i don;t have to explain it to anyone or feel guilty about it. I am also one of those women who believes we need to take back all the derogatory terms that have been used to hold us back. That is why I proudly refer to myself as a b-i-t-ch, s-l-u-t, c-u-n-t, nobody can use them against me if I have already taken them for myself.

The fight for equal rights and equal pay, equal treatment will never be over, we just have to educate our young girls in the practice of standing up for what you believe in at all costs, and not backing down.

How overtly do you mean? Like it or not, believe it or not, there is some empowerment that comes with it, and even a feminist has that empowerment of her sexuality whether she is overt or not, and whether she wants it or not.--Back to the original question: Problematic of what? of those women's insecurities of their intellect, thinking they have to use their bods not their brains?-probably not, just using one to get the other a chance in the game. Or problematic of society in general?-no-it's been a fact of life since life began.......Eve used her empowerment over Adam in the very beginning............as a woman, I feel that looking nice, wanting the door opened for me, does not mean that I don't deserve the same job, same money, as a man. You can want and have both.

I think it depends on the woman. I think it is healthy for women to be comfortable with a healthy sexual lifestyle. If her sexuality become demeaning or unhealthy then it is definitely problematic. It depends a lot on who they are and how they are expressing themselves. I am thankful women are starting to break out of the sexual taboo. I am not thankful for the women who misunderstand sexual empowerment.
