I think Dateline wanted to show the public just how much of this kind of thing is going on around us. Look at all the publicity the show has been given and how many they have done. And they have even talked about it on other broadcasts and still there are these men showing up. If this is going on with all that you see there how many many more are there out there?
I don't believe it is entrapment. They get what they got coming.
And no not all men are predators. Some don't even look like the stereotyped look of a predator. There are good guys out there just as there are women.
Maybe they should do a sting on women predators...but then would they let them set up on a campus?

I don't think that it makes all men look like predators but I'll bet you a million bucks that it has made a big dent on men meeting under-aged kids. If they only did one show, it wouldn't mean much, but if they do multiple shows there would be a chance that most predators would have seen or know that dateline is doing them and maybe it'll save some kids somewhere down the road. Who knows. It's bringing awareness to the issue and I really do doubt that it is for the ratings. If they get good ratings, I'm sure they are happy about that but I'm sure it's a slight edge towards social service than ratings. I will give them that. Of course, if there weren't good enough ratings they wouldn't still do it would they? I have seen the shows. As far as entrapment, that's a hard one for me to answer. In a way it may be, but in the interest of child safety, I don't give a damn. There have been too many kids that have ran off with someone they've met on-line. Whatever happened to the message that used to come on before the news that said "It's 10:00 do you know where your children are?"

#1 - this argument is like saying: "Well, we can't get all the drug dealers out there by stings, so why bother? Let's just let them run free." #2 - Yes, there are teenagers that prey on other teens. But the people who are working on this show don't target people and approach them cause THAT'S entrapment. They let the people come to them. If a teenager makes the arrangements, they get busted. If an older man makes the arrangements, then THEY get busted. #3 - you are talking about adult females who do this, but young girls who, for the most part, don't know any better for their own good and are ignorant about what their actions the and consequences. Now, that is like saying its okay to steal from the bank because the new teller left some money because they didn't know any better; it ain't gonna end pretty because you will get caught. You may say that this show is ridiculous, but what about the pedophiles who STILL fall for it. Why aren't you aren't you more amazed at how many DO come back even though the show is out there. Either way, they will be eventually busted, why not now before someone is hurt.

In my opinion, it does not matter if they are trying to initiate the chats for whatever reason, bottom line is- no grown man has a right to be talking to a juvenile and especially show up at one of their houses. Personally, I am glad that Dateline has come up with this idea. If it keeps one of these men from harming a child, then it was well worth it. I don't think Dateline makes all men look like predators, but let's face it, these guys they are filming ARE predators and deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. What if it were your 13 year old daughter one of them was pursuing-think about that!

I absolutely love that show. I do think it is to a point about ratings because crime sells. But it's for real! It's not entrapment at all because the decoys didn't initiate the conversation. The pervs did. I don't think men would feel bad about it or even care if they aren't doing it and feeling guilty. I watch it with my brother and my male cousins and it's kinda funny bcuz of how stupid these dudes are. But they don't get offended by it bcuz they know they don't do that so there's no reason to get offended.

They get what they deserve. I'm a 19 year old guy, and female friends I know have been approached by much older people some nearly twice their age. These people are predators going after prey. Looking for vulnerable girls who want attention. Some of the people they've busted have had rope and tape in the trunk of their care. With busts like these going on, hopefully perverts will think twice before going after anyone I know.

It's about protecting the children and educating parents and the public about the dangers of children chatting with strangers online.
If NBC gets some ratings points, more power to them. They are doing a good thing.
And no, it doesn't make all men look like predators - there is a whole crew of people plus Chris Hansen and a bunch of police officers, most of whom are men. Think about it. All these people, mostly men, have come together to catch these sleazebag predators.

I think it's awesome. They have helped catch a lot of bad guys AND they have increased awareness of a big big problem in our society.
I think it also goes to show us that anybody, any age, any profession, etc., can be the predator... not just a "creepy looking guy."
And just maybe they have deterred someone from doing something bad.
Of course it doesn't make all men look like predators... just the ones who want 13 year old girls!

Do you really think these guys wouldn't be talking to other girls if they didn't get trapped by dateline? It's with the same intentions as COPS, to show the bad guys getting caught. A lot of people just happen to like that.
