Ninety percent of success is showing up. It's such an annoying one, but it's kind of funny. And doesn't it make life sound so easy? Also "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" is a good one.

It's a Chinese proverb which roughly translates to "An inch of time is an inch of gold but you can't buy that inch of time with an inch of gold." It special to me because I procrastinate too much. Not that I stop procrastinating though. It's still special because I strive to stop and with this proverb in mind, I take it a step at a time. (It sounds better in Chinese, poetic even.)

"All intellectual improvement arises from leisure; all leisure arises from one working for another" by Samuel Johnson because I totally agree with him. It's from the great biography "Life of Johnson" by James Boswell. I bought a paperback published by OUP during my visit one evening at his house at 17 Gough Square, Fleet Street, London, UK on 5 July 1997.

it's a chinese proverb called "ying shui xi yuan" which literally translates to; 'when drinking water, always remember it's source'.

as absurb as this sounds, i am always mistaken to be someone of any other race rather than chinese. in my country, different races have different connotations (or should i say stereotypes?) to them such as university entry and profession. so this proverb reminds me to be true to my roots.

i'm not racist for the record, i'm just proud to be chinese and rather i'd be recognised as one, rather than any other race, because many people have spoken foreign languages to me which i don't understand.

You can never know if the stars are out of reach inless you reach for them

That one's big for me, mainly cause of how true it is. You should always aim for something that most think it out of reach, maybe even you.
