Why must there be stereotyping here? Just because there may or may not have been experiences between you and another individual of a different religion, sexual preference, race, or anything else does not make everyone else of that religon, sexual preference, or race the same as that individual. I'm not saying that I'm not at fault too sometimes but c'mon, cut back a little bit.

What the heck dude? I am 18. In the 60's I wasn't even a twinkle in my parents' eyes then. Geez. My parents weren't even a twinkle in anyones eyes yet...

Believe it or not your question is very complex.
The human brain and reasoning is designed for some reason by God and Nature to categorize. It is hard-wired into us all. There is no right and wrong about it. Your and my brain is a survival tool, and it will categorize anything that is perceived as a threat or is different from our own experience.

We can go beyond this hard-wiring using reason and experience, but in the end, we will always find ourselves putting people and things into a box with a tag that says "You are this."

Also, we categorize by experience. Out of the 40 million Black people on Earth, if you meet 2 to 4 black people who are mean and selfish and have hurt you in some manner, your mind will equate that with "Black people are bad." And you will take notice in the news about Black people doing bad things to other people which will end up reconfirming your beliefs regarding Black people. The same goes with other races and religions, or people of different gender choices.

Stereotyping is a survival tool of the mind. It is not always correct and right. It is a way to put people in certain categories so we can identify them. It all comes down to Hostiles and threats, versus Friendlies and allies, versus victims and neutrals. It is a way where we are able to have a benchmark on how we. ourselves are doing. It allows us to have something to compare ourselves too and say "That's not me, I'm better than that."

I hope this nonsense answers your question.

just look at it this way, how many people have you met that fall some sort of stereotype? And don't say none cuz that's a load of crap. I myself have met a lot, be it regarding race, religion, sexual preference, nationality and so on. Stereotypes exist because there are a lot of people (not all) who fit into this category.

Stereotyping is the sole source of racial identity. We all stereotype people by their skin, we see a certain color, instantly our brains process information about them whether it be true or false. It is the same with sex, obviously. No one can know a person's personality so quickly so the brain instantly places that person in a group and labels them for quick reference and assumptions. We all do it, but it doesn't make it right.

It doesn't matter what anyone says, we all sterotype. From the past to today and into the future there has and always will be stereotyping.

People can be very stupid at times, and are very closed minded. They probably haven't been around the people that they are stereotyping so, they assume what people tell them is automatically true.

Hey .. if you don't like Stereotyping .. then you should have stopped the invention of it back in the early 60's .. then we'd still just have Mono. Good Luck ! :)
