The only free shuttle to downtown runs from Sam's Town which is on the Boulder Highway to the Fremont downtown. If you have any desire to see the "Sunset Stampede"(free show) at Sam's Town you can catch the free shuttle from Harrah's to Sam's Town, watch the show(they have a 6pm show but the 8 and 10 shows are better, the lasers are more impressive after dark) Then take the shuttle downtown. Then reverse the process to get back to the strip...It's a little out of the way, but it's free and the show at Sam's Town is worth seeing..

http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com has a list of all free shuttles in LV under "VEGAS INFO" >"transportation"..Or you can walk across the street from Circus Circus and take the city bus(CAT) downtown. The cost is $2 one way, or you can purchase an all day pass for $5...The strip bus is a double decker called the "Deuce"..

The trams have become quite costly but as of our last visit one was still free but it runs only from Excalibur to Mandalay Bay with a stop at Luxor. You're almost better off walking depending on where you're going in Mandalay Bay because the tram stop is at a very inconvenient location.

For you and anyone eavesdropping.... If you're staying in Vegas for more than three days, which is the maximum tram pass, it's less expensive to rent a car than to purchase double tram passes. On top of that the tram stops are so darn inconvenient that you're almost better off hoofing it anywhere.

You can get deals on rental cars for around $135 for a full week. As long as you don't drive ON the strip (using parallel streets) it's quite easy to get around. Valet tips are reasonable. Nothing for dropping off and only $1.00 (the recommended amount) at pickup. It doesn't pay to park yourself. There, too, you wind up walking MILES.

We ALWAYS rent a car (reservations made in advance for pickup/drop-off at the airport) and find downtown parking quite convenient and often at no charge. It's also quicker and affords you the opportunity to go anywhere you want whenever you want with few hassles. I highly recommend it and have found it to be quite cost effective. You won't be sorry.

Las Vegas is built on the backs of tourist dollars
There are NO free shuttles
Your choices are either a couple of buses or a taxi.
The bus ride may not be quick, but they run frequently and the fare is much less than a taxi.

Dont bother with the shuttles. Get your shoes on and start walking. Its much more easier to get from one place to another on foot. If you're needing to get from the Bellagio to a block behind the MGM Grand (Hofbrauhaus restaurant), get a taxi. It will cost you about $10. We did that on our last day in Vegas and it helped tremendously given that we didnt have much time left to have fun in Vegas that day.

Enjoy!!
