The only way this would actually matter, is if both of you married for money. Have you ever heard the saying "What's mine is yours."? Honey, that's what marriage is about. Sharing everything. If it's causing problems, there's more to the problem than you are caring to look at. Because of society, men automatically assume they are suppose to be the bigger bread winner. When a wife is making more, in some crazy *** logic, it takes away from their manhood when it comes to providing for the family. Sit down and have a heart to heart. Put yourself on equal playing fields. Love is what matters here honey, and if you have that in check, then the money issue can easily be worked out. Money doesn't make the world go around...people do!

Now that wouldn't be fair. What happened to the part of for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer? If your spouse gets ill and can no longer work are you going to leave? Where is the love in that?
However whom ever brings in the most money into the marriage shouldn't be a factor as long as each one is happy in the career they chose. Because if one is happy in their daily duties is reason for a happy spouse. You can contribute to a marriage by other means. It's not just a monetary commitment.

It is most common & customary for the man to bring in the bulk or all of the income but it really doesn't make that much difference as long as it doesn't give anyone a weird complex about it...

Doesn't matter! As long as the bills are paid and the marriage is good, who cares who makes more money. It's the year 2006, not 1950.

In my opinion, it makes no difference who is bringing in most of the money. To be truthful, I don't care if I marry a woman who is a millionaire or a penniless woman with no job skills. All I care about is if our love is real and strong and if we will be happy with our life together. It seems that so many people are obsessed with money. I've had times in my life when I've had wealth and times when I struggled. My happiness was never related to money.

They should both work to bring as much into the household finances as possible, and save as much as possible for when children come along, because then you're going to need a nice nest egg.

who cares. It doesn't matter. More power to who ever can bring in more. If I made more than my hub, I would never think of taking a lesser paying job. WHy?
